Draining the Zero Threshold Shower
It is important to have the correct drainage in the shower which has a high capacity but still looks sleek. I have come across a couple of products that fit the bill:
Stormtech's Slim Line product out of Australia allows use of large format tiles without cross cuts. http://www.stormtech.com.au/
Quick Drain USA slot drains cover is only 1 1/2" wide. It is linear with a low profile. In addition it can line up to tie in with an existing drain. http://www.quickdrainusa.com/index.html
It is important to design in a bench which is great for shaving legs, washing dogs, and taking it easy. Don't forget to include some good looking grab bars to make sure you don't slip. Great Grabz has some outstanding looking bars with some real zing. Another favorite is Moen as they offer a full line that matches with their faucets.
Code requires a threshold change for a zero shower to be no greater than 1/2" with the shower draining in all directions 1/4". Standard shower thresholds are between 2" and 9". I would rather stroll in to the shower at a zero threshold than have to step over an ugly threshold. Zero thresholds have such an elegant and simple design. A great universal concept. Any ideas on where to locate some elegant easy access bathtubs?
I will write more next week. This week I have been busy studying to pass the new California State Certified Interior Design test. Have a great weekend.
